Alfold Fencing will prune trees for safety, health and aesthetic reasons. A selection of pruning techniques used are as follows:

• Crown Thinning - removing some secondary branch growth to create a less dense crown.
• Crown Lifting - involves removing some of the lower branches beneath a tree’s crown.
• Crown Reduction - Reduces a tree’s crown while still maintaining its natural shape. Cables are always stronger than rods because of their greater leverage
• Crown Cleaning - Involves removing dead or diseased branches. Cables can be used alone, but bracing is always supplemented with cables
• Pollarding - Involves pruning back branches to the same point on a regular basis to form ‘pollard heads’ which store energy.
